Support

Dear Friend of the Joffrey,

The very nature of the Joffrey is to bring people together for powerful dance experiences, to marvel in the beauty and freedom of storytelling through human form. As leaders in the dance community, we feel a tremendous responsibility for the health and safety of our Joffrey family.

Restrictions on public gatherings are forcing us all to reconsider how we manage our daily lives, as well as how we operate our businesses. With the safety and best interest of our patrons, supporters, and artists in mind, and in accordance with guidelines established by federal, state, and local agencies, we have made the difficult decision to:

  • Postpone our spring production of Don Quixote

  • Cancel the Joffrey Academy's 10th Anniversary Winning Works performances

  • Suspend all Joffrey Academy classes

  • Cancel Center Stage, our largest annual benefit

While we are presently unable to perform onstage, the Joffrey is wholeheartedly committed to caring for our students and artists by providing financial support and services to them, with special care for those who are internationally-based, away from their families, and on scholarship support.

The need to discontinue performances and events, combined with our underscored financial commitment to our artists comes with significant financial implications—an estimated $2 million+ loss. However, amidst the uncertainty that lies ahead, we are confident in our ability to weather these challenges with the support of our many Joffrey fans who have made and continue to make our work possible.

In the weeks ahead, we will be sharing stories of resiliency and examples of our artistry as we know they have the power to bring joy and meaning to our lives. In return, we ask you to consider:

  • Making a donation of any amount to The Joffrey Ballet by visiting our website

  • Purchasing a gift certificate to join us for a future performance by calling our box office at 312.386.8905

  • Learning more about ensuring our future through a planned gift by calling Jimmy Byrne at 312.386.8953 or emailing jbyrne [at] joffrey [dot] org

Our artists are an exceptional metaphor for our strength in this moment—every soul working seamlessly together, harnessing trust, collaboration, and passion for tremendous results.

Every gift truly counts. Thank you for your support and involvement in our Joffrey family.

Sincerely,
