Assistant Director, Grants and Sponsorships

The Assistant Director, Grants and Sponsorships reports to the Director of Major Gifts and is responsible for raising funds with a focus on corporate, foundation, and government funders and prospects. This includes managing the production of proposals, grants, reports and stewardship, while meeting all deadlines. This position works closely with the Sponsorship Director, senior development officers, and executives to effectively communicate, build relationships, and solicit support of the Joffrey.


QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENT: Undergraduate degree required. A minimum of three (3) years of development experience necessary, with a proven track record of accomplishment and success in fundraising in an arts or related organization. The ideal candidate will have exceptional ability to speak and write persuasively with donors and prospective donors about the needs and goals of The Joffrey Ballet. He/she will be a self-starter with the ability to make decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, be knowledgeable about Chicago’s institutional funding community and embrace opportunities to learn.  Excellent strategic, technical, organizational, and computer skills required. Must be professional, detail-oriented and have excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Tessitura or other development information systems a plus. Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion required.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm, additional hours as required, including regular attendance at evening and weekend performances and events.

Communications Director

The Communications Director will create and implement a strategic, multi-faceted communications program designed to build and strengthen The Joffrey Ballet’s role and reputation as a leader and innovative voice in the performing arts. Devise program guidelines, oversee implementation process, and provide quality control for communications programs, media activities, and special events.


QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role. Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies. Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.  Understanding of digital media platforms and highly computer literate. High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical level. Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, donors, program participants, and other supporters. Deep commitment towards diversity, inclusion, and equity. An undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, marketing or similar disciplines is strongly preferred.

Lighting Supervisor

The Lighting Supervisor works closely with the Production Manager, Director of Artistic Operations, and Artistic Director to plan, coordinate, supervise, and implement all aspects of The Joffrey Ballet’s lighting and video needs for all performances (and events, as needed). Possibility for original lighting design opportunities. Must have an interest in playing an active part in the creative process and collaborating with a variety of artists.  This individual must have strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication and personnel management skills; work with people of varying backgrounds and experience levels; be extremely organized and work in a timely manner; and gather/analyze information skillfully. This is a full-time position with benefits.


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate degree preferred (not required, but job experience as a Lighting Designer, Master Electrician, Lighting Supervisor a must). 5 to 7 years of professional experience in lighting, ballet preferred (but not required). Should have national and international touring experience, shown a willingness to take initiative; demonstrated leadership qualities and problem-solving skills; be familiar with working with various union contracts; possess strong computer skills (MS Office 360, Vectorworks, and 3D drafting capabilities). WORK SCHEDULE: Cyclical working hours depending on season. Touring requires long days. Work schedule will fluctuate to coincide with crew and performance hours. Includes evening and weekend hours.

Sponsorship Director

The Sponsorship Director manages the overall sponsorship program by identifying, cultivating, and stewarding corporate prospects and donors to maximize sponsorship revenue. This individual is responsible for an annual fundraising goal as well as the strategic expansion of the program while working closely with the Chief Development Officer, Development, and Marketing teams.


QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate, advertising, or sports marketing or sponsorship is ideal. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong analytical and research skills are essential. Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, strategic, organized, and highly computer literate. Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, donors, program participants, and other supporters. Deep commitment towards diversity, inclusion, and equity. Tessitura experience is preferred. An undergraduate degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or similar disciplines is strongly preferred.

Academy Part-Time Faculty Member


The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet is continually seeking talented, experiences classical ballet teachers for part-time faculty positions. Faculty members are responsible for teaching anywhere from 1-20 hours per week in the Academy's Children's, Youth, Adult and/or Pre-Professional Divisions. Part-Time Faculty members work closely with the Academy Artistic Directors to maintain the Joffrey Academy’s syllabus and uphold the artistic excellence for the Joffrey Academy. Part-Time Faculty members are expected to adhere to the policies and procedures of the Joffrey Academy of Dance. 


Responsibilities include; prepare and teach ballet, pointe, and classical repertoire classes at the Joffrey Academy of Dance, as scheduled by the Academy Staff, maintain a strong knowledge and understanding of the Joffrey Academy syllabus, serve on the substitute list for ballet classes, as availability permits, complete student evaluation forms for students in the Fall and Spring semesters, maintain a positive and structured classroom environment, teach private lessons, as needed and as availability permits, communicate regularly with Academy Artistic Staff and Faculty, Academy Administration, and other Joffrey Ballet staff members, meet with Artistic Staff and students/families, as needed, attend faculty meetings throughout the year, as availability permits, and complete paperwork and input payroll hours, as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
2-5 years, minimum, teaching experience in classical ballet
Must have a strong technical background in classical ballet 
Work exceptionally well with young students
Have a desire to learn the Joffrey Academy’s syllabus
Enjoy working in a collaborative environment as a team player
Be able to take constructive feedback to achieve high artistic standards

 

WORK SCHEDULE: 
Schedule will be mutually agreed upon by the Joffrey Academy and the Faculty Member. Hours primarily after 4pm on weekdays and 9am-3pm on weekends. Teaching schedule may vary each semester.

Season Ticket Sales Agent
